Thyroid gland function
The thyroid gland is an important hormone deficiency: It plays a major role in the metabolism, growth, and development of the human body. It helps to regulate many bodily functions by regularly releasing large amounts of thyroid hormones into the bloodstream.
Thyroid treatment
Typical treatment for hypothyroidism involves the daily use of the thyroid hormone levothyroxine (Levo-T, Synthroid, others). These oral medications restore adequate hormone levels, relieving the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism. You will probably start to feel better soon after starting treatment.

Thyroid inflammation
Goiter (sometimes spelled "goiter") is an inflammation of the thyroid gland that causes a lump in the front of the neck. The lump will fluctuate if you swallow. Credit: The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland around the neck, just before the windpipe (trachea).
parathyroid gland function
The function of the parathyroid gland
Parathyroid glands produce parathyroid hormone, which plays a key role in regulating calcium levels in the blood. Accurate calcium levels are important for the human body, as small changes can cause muscle and nerve problems.
What are the components of the thyroid gland?
The thyroid gland lies in front of your neck in the area under your Adam's apple. It is made up of two parts - a right and left nest, each the size of a plum cut in half - and the two parts are connected by a small thyroid bridge called the isthmus.
What are T3 and T4?
T3 is one of the two major hormones produced by your thyroid gland, a tiny butterfly-shaped gland located near your throat. Another hormone is called thyroxine (T4.) T3 and T4 work together to control your body's energy levels.
How does the thyroid affect the body?
The main function of the thyroid is to control your metabolism. Metabolism is the process by which your body converts food into energy for your body to function. The thyroid gland produces the hormones T4 and T3 to control your body. These hormones work throughout the body to tell the body cells how much energy to use
What about thyroid fatigue?.
Fatigue may start slowly or suddenly, leaving you unable to lift your head from the pillow in the morning. You may feel like you can't go through the day without sleeping. You may sleep more than usual but feel completely tired. You may not even have the strength to exercise.
